My First Audition

In previous posts I had mentioned that there are certain things I’d like to pursue, things I have never done before. And it's a little nerve wracking, because it’s different. I’ve been wanting to get an agent for a few months now. I have booked all of the jobs that I have done (projects and photo shoots, workout segments etc) without one and thought hey…..what if someone was actually looking for things for me? *Light Bulb* Lol! And that’s how it came about. Her name is Teresa Poanessa and her agency is R.E.D Lifestyle Management here in Toronto. (note: I am no longer with R.E.D Lifestyle Management. I am too busy with my new job to commit to auditions right now :) ).

The story on how we FINALLY met is quite funny….. long story cut WAY short….I got lost in the heart of down town Toronto, with no GPS, no AC (broken), it was hot and muggy, I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in a construction zone, then it started to rain and I had to keep my windows down because it was so hot. Hahah. As you may know, I have curly hair. …..mix in humidity, rain, exhaust pipe pollution and stress…..I was lookin like this ------------------------->
And to top it off I had to pee soooooo bad!!! So…..with no other options other than peeing my pants, I thought no, not today hahah. I throw my car in park and climb over to the passenger side to get out to the side walk (remember I’m in major traffic so I couldn’t even get out my side if I wanted to). I am hunched over running for the royal thrown at Tim Hortons only to find out you need a special key to unlock it. PLEASE KILL ME. The people working could tell I was in dire need and they quickly handed it to me no problems. Ahhhh SO much better. To sum it up; I was so lost, late, sweaty, tree haired (frizz ball of the century) that I decided to call Teresa and said we had better re-schedule Lol. Luckily she was laughing and totally cool with that.

Well we FINALLY met over brunch and we totally clicked! She is awesome. Not even 2 weeks in and I have already booked my first audition for a hair infomercial (Not even fitness related!) and had 2 other auditions. I'm proud to say I've booked 2 out of the 3! Not bad for my first time out lol! I’m really excited and looking forward to trying new things and getting out of my comfort zone yet again. The audition of course was nerve wracking…..some of the women in the waiting room weren’t the nicest. We were to come with little to no product in our hair. This product is a curling tool. One woman in particular pipes up and says “oooh I thought we weren’t supposed to come with our hair done…..” with kind of a snarky look on her face. And the 2 others beside her starting saying “Yeah, yeah” all looking at me. Like seriously?! What the heck.hahah I was like “oh my hair is naturally curly…” the main woman again says “oooh (kind of laughing) really…..” not believing me. I proceeded to show her the tight little ringlettes and dreadlocks underneath my hair lol….. all I can do is just laugh it off. It just caught me off guard. Women can be so catty. I’ll never understand. On a side note, I went to another audition and met a SUPER nice, gorgeous and down to earth woman, who’s name was also Rachel lol! She was very kind and informative (I was asking questions about what we would be doing, how do these things work etc). A little friendliness can go a long way and can make or break ones day…so why not try and make someones day as opposed to break it?

This morning I was on set in downtown Toronto filming for the hair tool infomercial and it was super fun! The ladies (and gentlemen) were all very nice and easy to be around. It’s a lot like photo shoots where you try on many different outfits, see how it looks with the camera lighting etc. I was nervous about "speaking" on the camera, but all turned out well! I also may have booked another job with the same company on the spot! That’s pretty cool. Still waiting to hear more details though.

Well that’s my latest update for now. :)
